sewing polyester fabric

Sewing with polyester fabric can be a tricky process, and you need to ensure that your sewing machine has the correct settings. To begin, switch your machine to a straight stitch. It will take the stitch straight across the fabric instead of going zig-zag. And be sure to set it to medium speed. If your machine is going too fast, it’s hard to keep control of the fabric.

An even feed foot (walking foot) or a roller foot can help keep the fabric in place while sewing. These tools provide a better grip when holding the fabric as well. It’s also really very important to use a good quality polyester thread. It also a strong thread to hold your stitches together.

The dos and don'ts of sewing polyester fabric

Now, let’s fold the fabric at the mark you made and pin it in place. Once pinned, it holds everything securely so it doesn’t shift around. You sew the hem using straight stitch again, but keeping in mind not to stretch the fabric. When you pull it, the fabric can have some wrinkles which can make it look unorganized.

It will however require a little more care onsite to produce neat and professional seams. The first step is to ensure that the edges of the fabric pieces are line up just right with no discrepancies. It means they should line up all straight next to each other.
